Obituary

Sennathie Shanta Yates was born to Nellie Yates and Robert Ashford on March 17, 1979. She departed this life on February 2023 at Winston Medical Center. 

Shanta attended Louisville Public Schools for 12 yeards and after graduation she went on to further her education at East Community College. 

She joined Piney Grove United Methodist Church at an early age and was one of the best church workers God called.

She was a youth leader, Sunday school teacher, Outreach President, church planner and a United Lay Speaker. Shanta was a member of the Heroine of Jericho, where she served as the treasurer. Also, she coached the boys and girls on the Upward Basketball team for the Winston youth. 

She leaves to mourn her homegoing; her mother Nellie Yates, farther Robert Earl Ashford; three sisters Lakeshia Lane, Yasmine Nicole Hunt, and Shalabra Robinson; one godson Tyshawn Norton, her grandmother Allie Bell Lewis; two nieces, eight nephews, and host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
