Mr. Roosevelt Callahan (Calahan) was born in Greenwood, MS to Alan and Ruby Calahan on January 23, 1938. He attended the Greenwood School System. Roosevelt worked for the State of Wisconsin for 21 years as a Corrections Officer.
Roosevelt met Dorotha in July 1990. They joined in union on August 10, 1991. Between the two there are six children. Zakia Patterson, JamaKeya Allen, Darius Allen (Tamieka), Jason Dodd, Latrice Calahan and Brontae Allen all of Milwaukee, WI.
Roosevelt loved working. He would often work two shifts in a day. He enjoyed cars. He would go to the car lots on Sundays, when they were closed just to look at cars. He also enjoyed playing cards, pool, watching sports, listening to music, especially Jazz, and attending festivals.
He dedicated his life to Jehovah on December 11, 2004.
Roosevelt had three special nick names; Sonny, Teddy Bear and his brother, John, called him The Godfather.
Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Ruby Calahan, sister Ruby Lee Calahan, brothers Charles Calahan, Alan Wade Calahan, George Williams, and great grandson De’Andre Allen.
He leaves to cherish in his memory his loving wife of 29 years, Dorotha Dotson Calahan. Louise Williams (Chicago), John Calahan (Ruby) of New Jersey, Curtis Mae Calahan of Milwaukee; Nettie Callahan and Emma Callahan of Cleveland. His best friend and grandson Davionte Allen.
Memorial Service will be held on December 26th at 3pm.
