Mr. & Mrs. Nagie Coleman was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Mary Dean. Mary Dean married Mr. Jeff Edwards who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sons; Arlee Edwards, JB Coleman, J.D. (Lemon) Coleman, and two daughters; Bonnie D. Coleman and Bonnie Lee Carter. Later in life, she married Mr. Mavis Coleman. As a strong Matriarch, she was known as “Madea” to her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Mrs. Coleman worked as a dietician for the Winston County Hospital for many years. She loved to cook and cook she could. Chicken n’ dumplings were her specialty. She also loved the artwork and was recognized in the Winston County Journal for her unique coloring ability.
Mrs. Coleman united with Harper Chapel Church and served on the Mother Board and assisted on the kitchen committee. As a STRONG voice in the choir, her favorite song was “You’ve Got To Move”. This song stood as a reminder to us that you may be high, you may below, you may be rich or you may be poor; but when God calls your name, you’ve got to move. On December 26, 2020, God called her name. She moved from her immortal body, put on her wings, and flew home to be at rest.
She was the mother of nine children: Ellouise (Melvin) Howard, Arlee Edwards, Obie Lee (Vera) Hathorn, Lois (Rev. John) Ball, Dr. Martha (Houston) Moore, Jimmie Coleman, Bonnie (Bobby) Jackson, Jeweline (B.P.)
