Mae Smith Obituary

Our loved Mae Smith gained her wings and transitioned to be with our heavenly father on January 8, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. One sister and five brothers preceded her in passing.
 
Mae Anna Smith was born on May 29, 1953 in Ackerman, MS. She was the proud daughter of the late Deacon W.D. Shumaker and Otie Shumaker. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She graduated from Ackerman High School. Mae lived a majority of her life in Chicago, Il on 47th Indiana. She was loved by many people in the community because of her caring personality and comforting spirit. She worked for Village Food Grocery Store for over 10 years. Mae left Chicago and returned to Mississippi to spend her later years with her remaining brother and sisters. After relocating from Chicago, she joined Bethsalem M.B. Church in Reform, MS. Mae loved her children and grandchildren with all of her heart.
 
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Willie B. Smith. The children she cherished- Catina Douglas, Willie Smith Jr., and Silverine Smith.
 
Her loving grandchildren- Sharisse Smith, Darrion Smith, Kailyn Douglas, Lorenzo Smith, Zarria Smith, Makenzie Douglas, Sil’mya Smith, and Justine Smith.
 
Devoted Brother and Sister – Stillman Shumaker (Hazel), Ethel Howard, C.B. ((Zeno) Shumaker Zettie Shumaker, Edward (Donald) Shumaker (Rosie), Willie (Homer Lee) Shumaker (Grace), George Shumaker, Theotis Shumaker, Clifton Shumaker, Fred Shumaker (Gale). Extended Family- Colleen Westby, Brendan Smith and Francis Jackson.
 
An abundance of nices/nephews (Byron, Alexis (Maria),, Camellita (Colette), Rita, Bridget, Teresa, Ashleigh, Shotty, Patrick and more) and a great host of relatives, friends, co-workers, And church members.
