Annie was born on April 4, 1922 in Louisville, MS to the late Jack and Leanna Johnson. Annie accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into her life at an early age and was baptized at New Zion Baptist Church in Louisville, MS under the leadership of Pastor Jones. As she matured, she became a Servant of God. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Sam Miller, Sr. and to this union four children were born. She later joined Union Chapel and served with an excellent spirit under the leadership of several pastors as an usher and had a compassionate, flexible personality.
Annie was humble, very kind, easy to get along with, a great friend and happy person. She retired from the Winston County Schools culinary industry and later worked at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store. Afterwards, she completely retired to take care of her ailing brother. Annie adored children, grandchildren and great grandkids. she took care of them and would do anything to help and assist. She was a caring mother, sharing a mother's love with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. God,, Family and Church were what she held dear. Never once did she publicly voice complaints about illness or any other setback she went through. She simply did it with grace, honor and dignity until the end of her physical earthly life.
Annie transitioned from her earthly tabernacle and entered into eternity Wednesday afternoon, February 15, 2017 at her home with family and friends by her side. Her legacy will live in our hearts and in the Greensboro community where she lived and diligently served until her health failed. She will be missed tremendously. Beautiful memories of her strong confident yet soft spirit and infectious smile will be remembered forever.
Annie was the "reigning family matriarch" and last surviving child of her late parents. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, three devoted daughters, Girth (John) Fleming of Memphis, TN, Alma (Truman) Davis and Lora (Charles) Thompson, both of Chicago; one dedicated son, Sam Miller Jr. of Louisville, MS; four grandchildren, Derrick Davis, Katina (Marlin) Newson, Eric (Nicole) Barnes and Dominique Miller; nine great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
